My friends and I have been playing a fair amount of “Ready or Not” recently – for the unfamiliar, the game is a first-person shooter where you control a SWAT team member participating in various missions, from stopping a robbery at a gas station to rescuing hostages in a hotel (and some much, much worse things).
Anyway, that’s not the point. We were having a tough go of it raiding a multi-story apartment building (where some of the doors were rigged with tripwire-activated explosives) – up until I was struck by the idea of blasting the most contextually-inappropriate songs imaginable over Discord (timing it so the song proper starts playing a few seconds before boot meets door).
It worked, in the sense that we neutralized the criminals, but there were…not a lot of arrests made – we rolled in HOT. Blame Cypress Hill.
Anyway, here are some songs that hyped us up like we’d just shotgunned energy drinks in the SWAT van:
“Rock Superstar,” Cypress Hill
(0:20 for the door-kick)
“Smooth Criminal” (Cover), Alien Ant Farm
(0:30 for the door-kick) (we actually got a perfect mission rating with this one)
“Fat Lip,” Sum 41
(0:19 for the door-kick)
“The Bad Touch,” Bloodhound Gang
(0:32 for the door-kick)
“Must be the Money,” Nelly
(0:15 for the door-kick)
“Boyz in the Hood” (Cover), Dynamite Hack
(0:35 for the door-kick)
“It Wasn’t Me,” Shaggy
(0:20 for the door-kick)
