Bests & Worsts of 2022: Gaming
Well, it’s a new year, which means that everyone is cranking out listicles about what they did and didn’t like over the past twelve months. I’ve tried to put a little spin on things by focusing on game features that I liked (and disliked), as opposed to full titles themselves (although one or two of…

I’m Pushing My Luck With ChatGPT
This post is a bit of a grab-bag, thematically speaking, but it’s trickier than you’d think to get a chatbot to write inappropriate shit (I think it’s learning). Without further ado… Prompt: Should I get myself taxidermied[?] Response: It is not appropriate or ethical to have a person taxidermied. Taxidermy is the process of preserving…

I Asked ChatGPT About Its Plans for World Domination
A.I. – Artificial Intelligence. Is it the next step in humanity’s journey to the stars, or a bell tolling doom for our species? What if I told you that AI could be used for other, more fun things – like drawing dicks in the style of Henri Matisse. Unfortunately, The Scrub Report actually has a…

Review: Andor, Eps. 11 & 12 (Plus Full Season Score)
Who ever thought a prequel to a prequel could be this good? Honestly, the first season of Andor feels like a prequel to a prequel to a prequel, but (shockingly enough) it’s an excellent show on a standalone basis. In the context of Star Wars, however, Andor shoulders the unenviable job of wringing hefty dollops…

Inglourious Basterds: An Ingienious Theory
I’m so goddamn pleased with myself for coming up with this set of observations that I had to share them with the world (lucky world). Admittedly, at least one person thought of this before me, and his name rhymes with ‘Bentin Barantino’. (I’d hazard a guess there’s thousands of others who noticed this before I…

Review Showdown: House of the Dragon vs. The Rings of Power (Part 2)
Before we start, let’s have some fun with math! That’s a sentence I never thought I’d say… The first season of The Rings of Power cost approximately $715 million to make.[1] That means that Amazon spent a little less than 10% of Somalia’s GDP to buy 8 episodes of mediocre television. (Honestly, I’m surprised by…

Review: Andor, Episodes 7-10
In my relatively short tenure as proprietor of a reviews-oriented site, I’ve come to realize that it’s much, much easier to write about things that I don’t like than it is to crank out ~1000 words on something I actually enjoyed. The episodes comprising Andor’s last arc make for a hard review in the best…

Review: Splatoon 3 (Nintendo Switch)
I’ve always been partial to team-based multiplayer games that let me contribute in less, shall we say, confrontational ways. Back when I played Overwatch, I enjoyed Lucío’s speed-boosting and healing abilities; in the Battlefield games, I tend to play as a medic, etc., etc. It’s like being the paparazzi on Princess Diana’s commute: sometimes, it’s…

Review: Halloween Ends
This was a weird one. Not bad-weird, but strange enough that a one-sided discussion like this necessitates the disclosure of… *From far away, across a desolate, blasted land, comes the tolling of ancient bells* …spoilers (the spookiest thing of all). Away we go. Part the First: Some Grisly Context You’re probably aware that Halloween Ends…

Review: Andor, Episodes 4-6
[Oh, yeah, there’s some spoilers in here, but I tried to avoid anything too specific…apart from the ending of Rogue One.] Something about these three episodes rubbed me the wrong way…but, much like the clitoris, I’m having a hard time putting my finger on it. Oh, well. Let’s give it the old college try. Andor’s…
